2025 Safer Internet Day – 11 February

Safer Internet Day Australia is a day to teach children of all ages about internet safety and to help promote responsible, secure, and positive internet use.

The day is designed to start a global conversation to help people be more aware of the internet’s dangers. It is also a day to celebrate all the wonderful things the internet can do for us.

You can teach your children all aspects of internet safety, including cyberbullying, cybersecurity, online communication, online safety and various digital technology topics.

What do children learn on Safer Internet Day?

You can teach your children all aspects of internet safety, including cyberbullying, cybersecurity, online communication, online safety and a whole host of other digital technology topics.

You’ll be able to teach children about the importance of being safe on the internet and reporting anything that is dangerous or is causing them harm or upset, such as cyberbullying.

Learning the importance of these issues at a young age is the best way to help children become more responsible and safe when using the internet.

Connect, Reflect and Protect

We urge everyone to get involved and take three simple actions to promote online safety: Connect, Reflect and Protect.

  • ‘Connect safely and purposefully – by keeping apps and devices secure and using social media positively.
  • Reflect before we act – by taking a moment to consider that what we do and say online may affect others/
  • Protect others with knowledge – by telling friends and family about eSafety and how we can help.’

Why is internet safety important in Australia?

Research shows that Australians learn and care more about online safety than ever before. As the internet is becoming more accessible to children of all ages and from all walks of life, Australian children must learn about internet safety.

Unfortunately, there can be a lot of dangers on the internet, which is why it is essential to teach children about these dangers and how to spot them. This will help keep them safe and allow them to have fun and enjoy the internet!
