5 safe apps for kids

It’s entirely possible to own a smartphone and be safe online. There are plenty of safe, fun and educational apps that kids can enjoy safely. So to combat all the doom and gloom, we’ve compiled a list of apps for kids can safely use to play and learn without fear of being tracked online.

Snake VS Block

Snake VS Block is an arcade-style game that combines the fun of Snake with some basic mathematics – creating a fun and reasonably challenging experience for players of all ages.

While quite simplistic in it’s design, the game is reasonably educational. Winning strategies are largely based on the ability to add and subtract, so it’s a great way to help children with their early maths skills.

We recommend downloading this as a fun distraction for kids. It’s a fun alternative to other online, mobile games that might encourage kids to reveal personal information to play.

Stack

Stack is an entertaining new puzzle game. The aim is to build the tallest tower possible by stacking coloured layers on top of one another.

As new layers descend, you’ll need to move them to sit as snugly as possible on the top of the existing tower. If the new layer is not placed in the same position as the one before, any overhang on the sides will fall off making the surface for the next layer smaller and the game more difficult. Once you miss the tower completely, the game is over.

While not quite as educational as Snake VS Block, Stack is quite challenging and can be a great little distraction for kids and adults alike. Again, the app is free from privacy risks.

Pocket Anatomy

Targeted to a slightly older audience, Pocket Anatomy helps students study the human anatomy in a fun, interactive way.

The various organ systems and muscle groups are laid out in interactive 3D models, with simple explanations for you to read on how each works. This adds a great, visual element to the usual textbook resources schools normally use. You’re even able to attach your own notes to various parts of the body to make studying even easier.

2048

This free and very entertaining sliding block puzzle has been hugely popular since it’s release in 2014. The game’s objective is to slide numbered tiles on a grid to add up matching numbers, and eventually create a tile with the number 2048.

The game is just as much fun for adults and kids, and can be very challenging. It really does require a keen mathematical and strategic mind to complete! There is no need to create an account or disclose any personal information to play.
